Call of Cthulhu "Nyarlathotep" Goliath Coin
Chaosium Inc. and Goliath Coins have teamed up to produce an amazing set of large coins featuring characters from the Call of Cthulhu RPG Mythos.
These coins are an official accessory with a backstory on how they came to exist in the Cthulhu Mythos. This allows you to incorporate them into your scenarios and campaign as a story element and game prop.
You can also use them in other Lovecraft & Cthulhu inspired games as a marker for turns, initiative, effects, etc.
Each coin comes with a stand so that mythos fans can use them as a display piece next to a computer, on a bookshelf, etc.
The Call of Cthulhu Collection features incredibly detailed, large metal coins, with sculpted 3D art.
The back of the coin features one of his masks.
How do you incorporate these coins into your scenarios and campaigns?
There is an official backstory consisting of a newspaper article about "The Murderous Rampage of Alfred Harrison."
Harrison was a friendly and upstanding member of the community of Bellbrook, Pennsylvania. He was a retired metallurgist from the United States Mint in nearby Philadelphia. On January 31, 1908, he killed four people.
It was discovered after his rampage that he had been hired to make some "unusual" coins.
The backstory is open ended and leaves many areas that Keepers can have their Investigators explore. The nature of the coins is undetermined and it is theorized that they could be used as a means of worship, a symbol of allegiance, who curry favor, or as a means of protection.
Here is a link to a PDF version of the backstory that you can print.
